Claiming Against an Uninsured Driver

If you have an accident, the chances are that the other driver will be a law abiding citizen with the required level of car insurance to cover you and your passengers.

Unfortunately there are a growing number of people who are driving without any car insurance, an MOT and in some cases a driving license.

In the UK, there is an organisation called the MIB (no they don't wear black suits) which stands for the "Motor Insurers Bureau" who deal with paying out claims against uninsured drivers. This was set up to offer victims of uninsured drivers a way to gain compensation that could then be reclaimed from the uninsured.

Unfortunately the trend is only likely to rise if the courts do not start handing out sterner sentencing; the typical offender simply receives 3 points on their license (if they have one) and a £150 fine. How much was your car insurance this year? It should be noted that the MIB actually pursue each uninsured driver to reclaim the costs of paying out to their victim.

At the end of the day, you are paying for these people to drive on the roads. It is estimated that each of us pays an extra £30 on our womens car insurance premiums every year because of the amount of people driving without car insurance.

You can find more information about making a claim with the MIB here.

Girlmotor firmly believe thatwe offer the best womens car insurance and at our prices, there's not reason to drive without insurance. Of course the key question you should ask anyone you know driving around without any car insurance is "What would you do if you hurt somebody?" The answer is that they would be liable for the any compensation claims and these can quite easily be over one million pounds.
