Continuing our article discussing the changing style of womens driving we'd like to talk about how the car cheap insurance for females industry could be changing. With the increase in convictions for speeding and other offences, insurers are having to re-think what affects female car insurance premiums.
So what's going to change? We believe that the future of car insurance lies in PPM (Pay Per Mile)schemes. This would involve having a small GPS transmitter box fitted to your car(who pays for this has yet to be decided) which transmits your location, the speed you're travelling, the date and time.
The idea is to have off peak hours where it is cheaper to drive and busy roads will be deemed higher risk therefore more expensive. There are many arguments for and against this system, we've detailed some of the arguments below.
- Cheaper for people who rarely travel
- Fairer. You pay for what you use.
- Might decrease congestion.
- Very expensive for people who drive for a living.
- The cost of the transmitter could put people off.
- Is big brother going too far?
This system of charging is likely to be the future for womens car insurance and a number of pilot shcemes are currently in progress. We'll talk about this more in the next article.
