Women's Motoring - New Car Discounts

Everyone was surprised by the demise of Rover a few weeks ago and it would have come as a major shock to motorists that had just purchased a new Rover now faced with void warranties.

Not only did the news send shock waves through the British industry but it acted as a wake up call to the consumer looking to purchase a brand new car reminding them that buying new gives you no guarantees. Add this to the fact that new car sales in general are decreasing this could spell out disaster for the big manufacturers, many of which reported record losses last year in sales.

But this could be a bonus for the prospective car buyer due to the fact that dealers are trying to shift cars out of the showrooms as quick as possible. This eagerness to shift cars and the increased competition between the manufacturers means that now could be the perfect time to capitalise on some of the deals and discounts being offered by dealers.

The increased discounts on the showroom floors have not only been put down to the drop in sales of new cars but leading industry experts believe Rovers demise has also contributed. They believe that with Rover now out of the equation there are over 50,000 perspective customers that would have bought a Rover this year looking elsewhere for their new cars. This could lead to a healthy increase in custom for the manufacturer that can attract these customers into their dealerships.

Competition in the showroom has never been so fierce but you are going to have to do some research to find the best deals. This is due to the fact that a lot of the manufacturers have decided to cut back on the advertising of the deals in their showrooms in an attempt to maximise profit from the deals. If you are willing to trawl around a few different dealers you will be surprised at what you can get for your money.

By taking a little time to investigate the different deals around this summer you could be driving away with more for your money. You could opt for a VW and receive up to £1600 of the retail price of a new golf. Alternatively you could head down to the Citroen garage and benefit from a VAT free sale giving you a whopping 17.5% off the price you would have paid.

The deals don't stop there either if you are willing to dig a little further you could benefit from vast amounts of free extras like air con or parking sensors and even free car insurance for a year. It just goes to show that with a little research you don't know what you might find.
