Badly Fitted Child Car Seats Cost Lives

Womens car insurance is important to us but we also know how precious your family and is and would like to offer some sound advice that could potentially save your childs life, surely you have a couple of minutes to spare?

Girl Motor would like to voice our concern over the potential ramifications of a badly fitted child car seat.

It is estimated that around two out of every three car seats aren't fitted correctly leading to thousands of unnecessary injuries and deaths in car crashes every year. Statistics that were published recently revealed that over 100,000 children were involved where it was crucial to how the car seat was fitted. Of these 100,000 incidents, 10,000 children were hurt, 670 were severely injured and 30 are tragically killed every year.

Ensuring that your child seat is fitted correctly not only affects your child and yourself, but it could also have a baring on your womens car insurance. UK law states that a child travelling in a car must have an appropriate restraint. Drivers can face fines of up to £1000 if they are convicted of allowing children to be driven without safety belts. On top of this, their car insurance could be voided on the grounds of negligence and could therefore affect any claims that could be made upon the drivers car insurance policy.

David Harlow, Managing Director of InsureYourMotor.com the parent company of Girl Motor explains:

"This is a serious issue that parents and carers just seem to be overlooking, they are taking unacceptable shortcuts or making compromises with their children as to how the belts are worn just to keep them quiet. I really do not think that they realise what a grave mistake this is and also the implication it may have should the unthinkable happen."

NEVER let your child secure themselves, spend the extra 30 seconds ensuring that they are completely safe in their child seat. Please don't leave it until it's too late, have your seat checked. The following link has some very useful advice for buying and fitting child seats.
